| 06/14/2003- Hollywood Hotel
We had a fun and interesting show tonight at 1160 Lounge (The
new "Hollywood Hotel") This was the very first night of the new
venue and we were glad to be a part of it. Thanks to the AH faithful
for coming out to support us. ((All your base are belong to us!))
Check back soon for more NEWS and the announcement of our UPCOMING
SHOW!
06/02/2003- Go Hard Rock!
We had a great time at the Hard Rock Cafe show on Friday night.
Thanx to everyone who came out to support us! Thank you Sean Healy
Presents! Also, thanks to all those that joined us early for dinner.
It was nice spending time with you guys before the show. Did they
take forever to bring the food or what?! We had to hit the stage
without getting any dinner. :( (That's the last time I ever play
a show without eating anything except Jack Daniel's all day!)
Automatic Hotel will be playing the next show in Silverlake at
the 1160 Lounge. Check out the Shows & Tours link for more info.
Stay tuned for more Hotel News in the next couple of days!
05/20/2003- Headlining Hard Rock Cafe
Automatic Hotel will be headlining Hard Rock Cafe in Los Angeles
on Friday, May 30th at 10pm. This is the biggest and most important
show in the entire world and you will all be there. They have
food, drinky-poos, and $1 parking. It will be the funnest night
you've ever had in your whole life and if you send an email to
20 people about the show, you'll have brilliant luck. Try it,
it works! Directions and flyer can be had by clicking on the Shows/Tours
link.
05/10/2003- Temple of Automatic Hotel
Well, it was quite surreal performing under a crucifix at St.
Monica last night, but we had a good time and met a lot of really
cool people. The last place anyone would EVER expect to see Automatic
Hotel is in a chapel, but thanks to visionaries like Roy Nwaisser,
the world will never be the same! Also, thanx to the girl who
told me "You have the looks of a wicked vampire". We had other
very gracious comments, but that one was by far my favorite.
It was a very special treat to see some of the Automatic Hotel
faithful show up at the performance. We didn't really promote
the event and didn't expect to see any familiar faces, but thanx
to Ariel, Matt, Chris 1, Chris 2, Tina, Andrew, Grace and Shane
S. for your support! (Thank God they actually had a bar at this
event, eh Shane?) For those of you who do not know Shane S., he
is the Hotel's resident drunk heckler, and he's been to every
show we've ever played! He didn't heckle at last night's show,
however, probably because he was sitting right in the front row
within kicking distance of me during our performance. ;) m.
05/08/2003- Lava
Thank you to all who came to the Lava Lounge last night! We really
enjoyed playing this show and a great time was had by all. Thanks
to everyone that bought CDs and those who joined the Hotel mailing
list. Your support is very much appreciated! We'll see you all
tomorrow night at the St. Monica Cathedral for a special performance.
Get the details by clicking on the "Shows/Tours" link.
05/07/2003- Congrats to Tinker and Phil!
Sinjin Malachy was born on April 27th at 7:24pm. We'll raise our
glasses tonight at The Lava Lounge in Hollywood before hitting
the stage. For those of you who don't know Tinker, she's an amazing
artist who is responsible for the coolest and most elaborate of
Automatic Hotel's flyers over the past two years. (The last couple
of flyers were grudgingly made by me while Tinker was out having
babies. ;) We look forward seeing more of your art in the near
future, Tink.
Mike
03/27/2003- The CD is now for Sale Online!
It's only $8.99 which includes shipping and handling. Just click
"Buy The CD" link at the top of the page. Thanks for supporting
Automatic Hotel!
03/23/2003- Hard Rock Show!
We couldn't be happier about our show at Hard Rock Cafe on Friday
night. We had well over 100 people come out to support us and
we gained a lot of new friends from the crowd there having dinner
and/or hanging out at the bar. A big thanks to Big Dave Little
for the excellent job of mixing the sound. It's rare to find someone
who can bring out the natural sound of the band so well. We really
had a great time with you guys. Thanks for coming out! We'd also
like to thank Sean Healy Presents for asking us to play the show.
There will soon be some pictures from the show posted on this
website and we'll be announcing our next show this week. Slainte!
03/02/2003- Thanx to everyone that came to our 14
Below show last night. We played three new songs and the crowd
favorite was a brand-new song called "Caught". We'll definitely
release it on our next CD. Our current CD is now available for
$7 and you'll soon be able to purchase it online.
We've just signed on to play Hard Rock Cafe - Los Angeles on
Friday, March 21st at 9pm. We want to make it up to our fans and
friends who missed our set at the Dragonfly show last month by
offering you free tickets to the Hard Rock Cafe show. Just click
the "contact us" link above and let us know how many tickets you
would like. See you there!
02/03/2003- The Hotel has just signed on to perform
at 14 Below on Saturday, March 1st at 10:15pm. It will be a full
length show guaranteed to start after 10:15pm. The cost
is $8 at the door with your Automatic Hotel flyer. We'll post
the flyer in a few days. Click the "shows/tours" link for detailed
info and driving directions. See you there!
02/02/2003- Thanx to everyone who helped us pack
Dragonfly last night! We want to apologize to those who missed
part or all of the show due to the arrogance and stupidity of
certain "decision makers" that we shall leave nameless. We were
forced to go on stage very early, before our contracted time.
Can we say "Breach of Contract" boys and girls? Anyway, that has
never happened to us before and it's extremely unusual and grossly
unprofessional. We are taking steps to assure it never happens
again. Aside from all that nonsense, the show was reported by
many as totally kick-ass, and everyone seemed to love how our
being pissed off intensified our music. I was accused of being
possessed by Satan during the performance, but I swear it was
the other way around. In other news, our retail CD is now on sale
for $7. It will soon be available online or you can pick one up
at our next show which will be announced soon. Cheers!
Mike
12/24/2002- It was a very energetic show at The
Cat Club last Friday night; Complete with Mike spontaneously leaping
off the stage for no apparent reason but to take all the cables
and microphone stands with him. Then there was Justin, who (we
found out afterwards), had his cell phone in his pocket and inadvertently
called information over a dozen times during the performance.
He apologized to the operator after the show, who couldn't understand
why he kept calling her and blasting loud music. Shane, The Hotel's
new drummer, was AWESOME. He's only been in the band for just
over three weeks, but he played like a veteran and really impressed
the crowd with his double bass pedal stylings, and complex yet
precise technique. Overall, it was a very entertaining show and
the band promises an even better show at Dragonfly on February
1st. Make sure to check out the newest songs by clicking the "Music"
link, and watch for a brand new song by the end of this week.
12/09/2002- We now own AutomaticHotel.com!
It's been almost a two year wait but we finally got it.
* Brunette Girl has been updated to a new version. Be sure to
check it out along with the 3 new songs on our Music link.
12/07/2002- 3 new songs added to MP3.com! Make sure
and check 'em out. They'll be on the new CD which will be released
in the coming weeks. Just click on the "Music" link.
Special Announcment!
Automatic Hotel Gift Shop is open for business! If you want
cool Hotel stuff, this is the time to buy. Click on the "GiftShop"
link and you can shop at our secure online store!
11/21/02 - Lots of stuff going on! We are finishing
up our retail CD that will be available for purchase on the web
within weeks. Our new website will soon go live and you'll be
able to buy Automatic Hotel merchandise online. Be the first person
on your block to own Automatic Hotel underwear, t-shirts, caps
and coffee mugs! Lastly, the Hotel has signed on for a show at
the Cat Club in Hollywood for Friday, December 20th at 10pm. You
can get all the details by clicking the Shows/Tours link. See
you there!
11/07/02 - A big huge thank you to our fans and
friends that made it to Vegas for our show at the Cheyenne Saloon.
We had a great time with everyone afterwards at Ghost Bar in The
Palms. A special thank you to Shane for his advice on mid-western
girls. Also a special thanks to Twan for the offroad extravaganza,
and to "the Dude" for just being. We are soon back from our writing
(rehab) hiatus so keep checking the L.A. Weekly and the website.
Yeeha!
9/29/02 - Automatic Hotel has signed on for a special
performance in Las Vegas, Nevada on the second of November. Check
back soon for details! Website news: We'll have our DSL line hooked
up in two weeks which means more updates and tons of new pictures!!
Cheers!
08/26/02 - Hi everybody, it's Mike. (Ryan is on
vacation.) Thanx to everyone that came to our Paladino's show
last Friday night. We had a great time performing for you guys.
The band is really beginning to evolve as we have been writing
and working on a lot of new material that really challenges us
and brings out the best in each band member. We've recently added
three new songs to our set and there may be two or three more
for our next show. We've held off on accepting our next gig to
give us more time to write and be creative, but we'll be announcing
our next show soon. Make sure and check back often for web updates
inluding new pix and new music!
07/22/02 - If you were at 14 Below in Santa Monica
on Friday night, you were definitely in the right place! Automatic
Hotel was the headliner...they packed the club and played an amazing
show. They opened with a brand new song called "Like a Dream"
that began like an explosion. Personally I think this one is meant
for the airwaves. The hotel will spend the coming month mixing
their new CD. The next show is August 23rd at Paladino's. Don't
miss it! Once again our boys will be headlining.
07/01/02 - The guys had a great time at Molly Malone's
last night and they would like to thank everyone that came out
to support the band. Because of you, The benefit was a great success.
Don't miss Automatic Hotel at 14 Below on July 19th. They are
headlining and you can get all the details by clicking the "Shows/Tours"
link.
06/24/02 - Automatic Hotel is currently recording
their new CD which be will available for purchase by next month.
Be sure to check 'em out this coming Sunday at Molly Malone's.
Click the "Shows/Tours" link for more info!
06/03/02 - The Hotel have just signed on for a show
at Molly Malone's on Sunday June 30th. Mike said it's a charity
event benefiting inner city kids and it would be a casual party
atmosphere with lots of music and good times. The guys will also
be performing at 14 below on a Friday night in mid July. Details
will be announced after the Molly Malone's gig. The guys are currently
working on finding the right recording studio so they can get
thier new CD completed before the end of the month. They had one
on the line but the deal ended up falling through. "We gotta get
the most bounce for the buck", said Justin.
05/29/02 - Last night's show at Dragonfly proved
to be a bit rough for our boys as there were problems with the
sound and a few minor technical glitches. For those of you that
have delved into the intricasies of live performing, you know
how important good monitoring can be. The guys couldn't hear anything
on stage and the result was a less than satisfying vibe for them.
BUT, they shook it off after the show and got down to some serious
imbibing and socializing which made the rest of the night fun.
The Hotel will now be concentrating on recording their new demo
and working on new music through June. The guys will be back playing
live shows by the end of June, beginning of July. Web updates
will continue with new pictures and new music being added very
soon.
05/17/02 - New Songs! The hotel
is currently working on a few new songs and they're really excited
about one in particular. The song "Fly" was written two weeks
ago by Justin and Mike and this is the one that's going to the
record company VIPs. The guys will be in the studio recording
their new 3 song demo within the next couple of weeks. They will
probably be recording at Interlok Studios at Crossroads of the
World. This particular demo will be "radio ready", but they'll
also be recording a few of their other songs at Mike's home studio.
So get ready for a flood of new music on their MP3.com site! Just
click on the "Music" link to get there.
*Viva Las Vegas* Some of you have been asking
about the Vegas shows, but the band has had some setbacks putting
the deal together. There will definitely be weekend shows in Vegas
but probably not until July or August.
*Mellow out* On a different note, Mike and Justin
will be doing some acoustic shows around L.A. soon. Keep checking
back for info!
05/03/02 - Last night at The Joint was really cool.
The band was great and a few people said it sounded even better
than the Johnny Foxx's show. The stage was a trip . It was so
high up that the guys had to actually climb a ladder to get up
there! The space on the stage was really small which added to
the "vertigo" effect. The guys couldn't really move around without
bashing into one another but somehow they still exuded a great
amount of energy throughout the show. Apparently, Mike said he
couldn't breathe during the second and third songs due to a prescription
expectorant he was still taking from last week's sinus cold. He
said he thought he might pass out but no one seemed to notice
a thing. Rock on man! After the show, the band was once again
asked to do an encoure so Mike and Justin played a 20 minute acoustic
set which was very well received. When the acoustic set was over,
they were offered to do an "Automatic Hotel Unplugged" at Molly
Malone's in the near future so keep checking back for details!
A few photos from the Joint have already been added to the photo
album and I've got more pics from other shows that I'm scanning
right now. A couple of them are just better quality versions of
pics we already have up. Automatic Hotel's next gig will be at
Dragonfly on May 28th. That may be the last chance to see them
locally for a while as they plan taking one or two mini-tours
and also taking the time to write and arrange new music. They
will also be recording new songs on May 12th. So make sure you
get out to Dragonfly on the 28th! There will be a flyer and info
for the show on the "Shows/Tours" page as soon as I can get to
it.
04/29/02 - I've posted several new pictures from
various Hotel events. Click the "Photos" link and check them out!
I'll be adding many more live shots as they are emailed in by
fans. Click on the "Shows/Tours" link to get info on the upcoming
show at The Joint in Hollywood this Thursday.
04/15/02 - If you missed the show at Johnny Foxx's,
you really missed something! This show was even better than the
last and the crowd loved it. Fans came in from all over just to
see Automatic Hotel. Some of the places we heard were San Diego,
Salt Lake City, Utah and even Ireland! It was clear to all that
the guys were having a great time on stage and that there is an
unmistakable unity between these four best friends. They were
awesome! The response to Automatic Hotel was excellent. After
the show, the guys were asked by the club to come back and be
the only band on the marquis for a future weekend night while
a fan was insisting on buying the free CD. The record exec that
was rumored to be making an appearance never did make that appearance
but I'm sure some history would have been made if he'd been there.
"It's not important", Seph said, "that day will come". The band
spent the following day Downtown for a photoshoot and had a lot
of laughs. They covered a few locations from gothic buildings
to one of the nastiest back alleys imaginable. Anything for art!
Check out the shows/tours link for upcoming shows. Automatic Hotel
will be playing The Joint on May 2nd and the guys are currently
discussing an offer to play Dragonfly on May 28th. It looks like
the Vegas weekend will definitely be in June. Photos of the Johnny
Foxx's gig will be up soon and we're still waiting on those pics
from the Paladino's show. Keep checking back!
03/28/02 - The show at Paladino's last night really
kicked some serious behindage! Automatic Hotel had a great draw
considering it was a Wednesday night which also happened to be
Passover. The Paladino's staff was very truculent with the band
before the show and the guys were talking about crossing this
venue off the future gigs list, but after the show, the Paladino's
management was so impressed with the band and the draw, they chased
Justin out into the parking lot to "unload various props" and
to ask the band to return for a weekend gig. After the guys played
their set, they were asked to do an encore, but Mike announced
to the crowd "sorry, we don't know anymore songs!" So for the
encore, Mike brought an acoustic guitar on stage and played a
20 minute acoustic set with Justin singing beautiful harmonies.
The band would like to thank all those that came to the show.
Your support is greatly appreciated. On one sour note, the digital
camera that contained all the pictures of the performance "froze
up" and all the pictures were lost. There will still be some pics
posted on the website, however, courtesy of one or two audience
members that were taking pictures.
03/11/02 - Today, Automatic Hotel signed on to Headline
a show at Johnny Foxx's on Saturday, April 13th at 10:pm Johnny
Foxx's is a very cool pub with gourmet grub and a full bar in
West L.A.
03/08/02 - We've finally got our photos page up!
I only had a few random images to work with but I'll be adding
more every couple of weeks as the band has more recording sessions
and plays more shows.
02/20/02 - Lots of stuff going on. The Hotel will
be preforming at a club in the valley called Paladino's. It's
a pretty cool place. The Foo Fighters played there a couple of
months ago or so. Would have been cool to see that show! You can
get the details about the Automatic Hotel gig by clicking on the
"shows/tours" link. There's going to definitely be a couple of
shows in Vegas soon, but I don't have the details yet. There have
been some updates to the website. We moved to another server yet
again. Everyone was really sick of those pop up ads on Angelfire.
The band's music is now hosted on MP3.com and you can get there
by clicking the "music" link. It's takes the MP3 staff about two
weeks to approve a song though so it's always a bit of a wait
for a new Hotel song to pop up. A new acoustic song should appear
on that site within days. We now have a message board! So get
your bad self to the hotel intercom and say something meaningful!
Out.
02/06/02 - The new Automatic Hotel Cd is done! This
is their current 4 song demo with an acoustic bonus track. If
you'd like your free CD, all you have to do is ask. Use the contact
page to give us your name and address.
01/25/02 - Well, we've now moved to the Angelfire
server and we can finally offer our new "Downloads" section! You
can download the newest Automatic Hotel songs for free! We'll
also be offering free screensavers and other goodies. Click the
"Music" link on the navigation bar above and check it out. New
stuff will be added all the time.
01/23/02 - Happy New Year! Automatic Hotel is currently
working on a new CD that will be completed some time next week.
The songs chosen for the CD are Brunette Girl, You're Not Real,
What Changes, Question of Time, and possibly an acoustic bonus
track. All the tracks have been recorded and they are now putting
on the finishing touches. The guys have decided to give the CD
away for free so make sure and get yours! As soon as the demo
is completed I'll be uploading the MP3s to the net. We can't have
MP3 files on this site so we'll use our Angelfire site. We've
been getting a lot of emails asking when the Hotel will play a
show and the band is feeling the same frustration as it's been
one thing or another that's kept them out of the spotlight as
of late. They promise there will be a show in March and at least
a show a month following, including an upcoming show at Johnny
Depp's Viper Room in Hollywood and a weekend gig in Vegas.
12/11/01 - Some friends of the band, including myself,
were invited to last night's rehearsal. Everything sounded great!
It seems that Seph is learning the songs quickly. It was obvious
that the guys are anxious to get back out there, and there's talk
of some soon-to-be bookings in Las Vegas. I asked again about
getting some recordings so I can post the (much promised) MP3s
on the net, but the guys want to wait until they can record something
with Seph. They said that the previous music doesn't represent
the band anymore. I've taken some old information off the website
and I'll soon be doing a lot of revamping. I plan on having some
video and audio outtakes from some of the upcoming gigs.
11/25/01 - Finally some news!!! Well, Mike has returned
from his travels in Europe, and a new member has been added to
Automatic Hotel! Seph Kinder will be filling the fourth member
void as the new rhythm guitarist. Most of you remember Seph from
"Time in the Black" which had a pretty successful run in L.A.
a couple of years ago. (He was the one who was always leaping
from the stage). Mike called me today with the updates and he
says that the band will be back in the "public ear" once Seph
is familiar with all the songs and the band is tight. He said
it shouldn't take more than a month. Their first rehearsal with
Seph happens tomorrow night. Stay tuned!!
11/10/01 - Sorry it's been so long since I've posted
anything but there hasn't really been any news. I hope everyone
is having a great holiday! Not much to report right now as Mike
has been in Europe for quite a while. I wish I could say when
the band will be playing out again but I'm not getting any solid
answers from the guys. Jeffrey has said that when Mike returns
they'll start working on a new demo and they'll be taking new
pictures. He says they'll probably be back on the Hollywood circuit
by December. Mike told me in an email that he had performed a
couple of small acoustic shows in Ireland which went pretty well
and that he really was looking forward to performing with the
band again. Keep checking back and I'm sure we'll have some show
dates posted for the coming month(s)!
